Dear Bret Harte Union High School District students and families,

I am honored and privileged to serve as the Superintendent for the Bret Harte District and for a community dedicated to providing quality education for all children. Public education is an essential component of a strong democratic society and gives our children the tools necessary to become successful members of our community.

Before joining Bret Harte, I was the county superintendent, and throughout my career have served as an associate superintendent, assistant superintendent, director of technology, director of curriculum & instruction, principal, assistant principal, lead teacher, and teacher.  I also have the advantage of being connected with many local business people and am keenly aware of their challenges in recruiting and maintaining good high-quality employees. I have been pushing and will keep pushing, for all our students.

As a long-time Calaveras County resident, my commitment to the educational success of children runs deep.  I have had the honor of working in education for over 21 years, and my own children attended and graduated from Bret Harte High School.

The world is changing fast and our students should not be at a disadvantage because of our rural location. I value what makes living in Calaveras County and being a Bullfrog special, and I believe that every student should leave high school career or college ready.
