“The Bret Harte Union High School District is proud to announce that Superintendent Scott Nanik has been appointed to two key statewide boards focused on the future of California public education: the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT) Board, representing Region 6, and the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Taskforce.

These appointments ensure that the voice of small, rural school districts like Bret Harte—and others in Region 6—are represented in major decisions affecting fiscal management and the integration of new technologies in education.

FCMAT is vital in supporting California schools with fiscal oversight and crisis prevention. As a board member, Superintendent Nanik will help guide best practices and strategic planning to promote long-term financial health and responsible governance across the state. His appointment brings local insight to the table, advocating for the unique fiscal challenges rural districts face.

Through his role on ACSA’s AI Taskforce, Superintendent Nanik will join a select group of education leaders charged with evaluating the potential impact of artificial intelligence in California schools. The AI Taskforce is dedicated to exploring how AI can be used responsibly and effectively to enhance student learning and streamline administrative operations.

‘I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on both the FCMAT Board and the ACSA AI Taskforce,” said Superintendent Scott Nanik. “These roles provide a platform to contribute to critical discussions shaping the future of education in California, from ensuring sound financial practices to strategically integrating advanced technologies like AI to benefit our students and educators.’

The Bret Harte Union High School District applauds Superintendent Nanik’s commitment to advancing public education through collaboration, innovation, and advocacy on behalf of all students.”
