“STOCKTON – There are some significant things that Simon Akers, Jesus Moncada and Matthew Padula have in common.
All three spent their high school years in the pool as standout water polo players. All three were all-league selections. All three were swimmers in the spring. And all three had a desire not to let their athletic careers end the day they received their high school diplomas.
Now, one final commonality between the three is that they are all teammates on the San Joaquin Delta College water polo team. Moncada and Akers are no strangers to one another, as they were teammates on Bret Harte High School’s most successful water polo teams, which won league titles in 2023 and 2024. Padula, meanwhile, spent his high school career at Calaveras, playing against the duo of Moncada and Akers for years.
Now, with high school behind them, the former Bullfrogs and Red Hawk have teamed up to become Mustangs and are continuing their love for water polo at the collegiate level…”
