Students of the Month, Feb 2023 D Stephens R Alvarado
Congratulations to February’s students of the month, Dakota Stephens and Roxana Alvarado, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary luncheon today.

Dakota Stephens: “Part of being a student leader is the ability to look in multiple directions. Dakota has that capability. He can look back at his roots, as he has spent many seasons helping coach youth wrestling, displaying passion and patience. He also looks forward, as he constantly prepares for the future, filling his plate with honors and AP courses to prepare his entry into college. Dakota has been a determined leader in Football and Wrestling, showing by example to his peers and younger student-athletes. Besides sports and academics, Dakota also fills his time with Outdoor Science Club and CSF. Dakota targets are Oregon State and Montana State where he plans to major in pre-med to prepare a career in orthopedics.”

Roxana Alvarado: “As an educator, it is heartwarming to watch the growth of students as they progress in their development into adulthood. This is especially true when they become respected leaders among their peers. That is part of Roxana’s path at Bret Harte. Roxana has been an active participant of FFA, and Yearbook, as well as dedicated member of Tennis, Cheer, and Dance. Within the community, Roxana frequents Michelson Elementary to mentor younger students in their robotics program. Where Roxana has had tremendous transformation is in her Leadership class. Entering as a shy, kind person, she has grown into an individual who teaches, gives direction, and delegates to her peers, still with kindness and respect. The colleges within Roxana’s radar include Monterey Bay, Sacramento State, and Stanislaus State. She plans to major in Law & Ethics or Philosophy for a career as a criminal justice lawyer.”
