Congratulations to Bret Harte Students of the Month for April, Owen Gayle and Jade McBride, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary Luncheon today, Thursday, April 18. The following information was shared about Owen and Jade.

Owen Gayle: “Some students have learned the power of the spoken word, and among those is Owen Gayle. Therefore, it is no surprise to learn that Owen, a team captain of Academic Decathlon, has earned six regional medals as well as a gold medal in speech, plus another silver medal. A staff member reports that Owen has a natural ability to imbed passion into his speeches. Sharing this passion, Owen has also mentored and coached ACADEC. Among other clubs & organizations to fill Owen’s time include Friday Night Live, Interact, CSF, Spanish Honors Society, Forestry/Outdoor Club, and Drama. Owen is heavily involved in the upcoming school musical in terms of acting and costume design. In the limited spare time, Owens enjoys sewing, music, and reading science fiction. Owen plans to major in Biological Anthropology at UC Merced after which will follow a career involving forensic anthropology.”

Jade McBride: “Jade is another multi-talented student whose passion spreads across many fields Jade fills her time with Academic Decathlon, Friday Night Live, FNL Mentoring, Theatre, Leadership, and Band. Jade has also been a member of the Cheer and Dance teams. Within the community, Jade has volunteered time for Santa’s Workshop and Halloween Trick or Treat at the Town Square. Brings light and joy into every space she is in. She is the definition of an involved student- she is kind to others, is brave in trying new things and encapsulates a student BH should be proud of! She has been described as fearless and is just a pleasure to work with. Jade’s hobbies include painting & sketching, creative writing, reading, video games, and singing. Jade plans to attend Lemore Community College in Colorado, on the way to achieving her degree in Psychology to prepare her career as a severe trauma therapist.”
