Each school year in the early days of May, Ms. Truman coordinates her annual veterans round table where local military veterans visit campus to meet, talk, and share their stories with United States History students. These students include all juniors and some seniors enrolled in Ms. Truman's Columbia College Access Pathway course housed on the Bret Harte campus. This year, there were a total of 15 military veterans that met and interacted with well-over 100 students today in Bob Bach Gymnasium. In addition, senior Sophie Smylie was awarded $500 for her Voices of Democracy essay from The James D. Piper VFW Post #12118.
