Congratulations to the Students of the Month for September, Cheyenne Stephens and William Taylor, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary luncheon today Thursday, September 11 in Murphys. The following information was shared about both students.
Cheyenne Stephens: “Cheyenne Stephens is recognized by both staff and peers as one of our top student leaders. She is a valued member of the ACADEC team and a quiet yet confident voice in classroom discussions. Cheyenne consistently advocates not only for herself but also for her peers, earning widespread respect for her integrity and authenticity—what you see is truly what you get. Academically, Cheyenne has an outstanding record. She holds a 4.29 GPA and ranks 4th in her senior class of 123 students. In addition to her high school coursework, she has successfully completed college-level courses, further demonstrating her academic dedication and readiness for higher education. Cheyenne is also a veteran leader in athletics, competing in both volleyball and track and field, where she excels in shot put and discus. Her involvement extends beyond sports—she is active in Interact Club, Outdoor Club, Ski Club, and is a member of CSF (California Scholarship Federation). Within the community, Cheyenne gives back through various volunteer efforts, including organizing shoe drives, supporting the annual Shrimp Feed, participating in Murphy’s Irish Days, and helping with Vacation Bible School. Cheyenne plans to attend either Oregon State University or UC Davis, with the goal of pursuing a degree and career in Environmental Engineering. Whether working independently or as part of a team, Cheyenne consistently demonstrates strong work ethic, reliability, and a keen attention to detail. Her future is undoubtedly bright.”
William Taylor: “Will is an exceptional student who exemplifies consistency, reliability, and responsibility. He is a quiet leader in the classroom—always following complex instructions and engaging thoughtfully in class discussions. His dedication and positive attitude make him a joy to have in any academic setting. It’s no surprise that Will has been selected as Captain of the varsity football team. His leadership extends beyond the field, as he also represents Bret Harte High School with pride on the Men’s Golf Team. Will is actively involved in the Agriculture Association, where he contributes his time to setting up meetings and organizing food drives. His passion for sports also translates into community service, as he volunteers regularly at local golf tournament fundraisers and through AMA Sports programs. Will plans to attend Columbia College and later transfer to Fresno State to pursue a degree in the medical field, aligning with his ultimate goal of becoming a firefighter medic. With his strong sense of duty and commitment to helping others, there’s no doubt that we’ll be in good hands when Will is on the job.”
