SOMs for October, Ella Casci and Brayden Bowersox

Congratulations to the Students of the Month for October, Ella Casci and Brayden Bowersox, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary luncheon on Thursday, October 9 in Murphys. The following information was shared about both students.

Ella Casci: “Ella is a positive, dedicated leader who is admired by both her peers and staff, both in and outside the classroom. She has been a committed track and field athlete for four years (including the upcoming spring season). Beyond school athletics, Ella has trained at the local Calaveras Fitness Collective since she was 12, where she participates as a CrossFit athlete and competes in events such as the 5K race, Chad 1000x, and Hyrox competitions. Ella is actively involved on campus as a member of FCA and FFA, and she currently serves as president of Interact. In the community, she volunteers at events like the Shrimp Feed and contributes to service projects such as the Soles for Souls drive.

Academically, Ella is one of the top students in her class, with a 4.2 GPA and has taken several community college classes while in high school. Her top college choices include Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, and Western Washington University. Ella plans to pursue a career in Psychology or Therapy, with a special interest in Marriage and Family Counseling—particularly focused on children—or as a Sports Psychologist…”

Brayden Bowersox: “Whether it’s selecting piano music, joining his fellow Bullfrogs on the field, or competing in academic events—especially when math is involved—Brayden can always be counted on to give 100%, whether it’s for his own success or for his teams. As an Honors Decathelete Brayden earned seven medals at the regional competition, five of which were gold.  At the State Competition, Brayden earned a gold medal in math, outscoring hundreds of other competitors. As a 4-sport Varsity athlete, Water Polo, Soccer, Baseball, and Tennis.  Brayden has earned All-League in-and-out of the competitive arena; being recognized for his contribution to the team as well as being a Scholar Athlete for the Mother Lode League. In addition, Brayden is involved in several clubs and organizations, including FCA, Interact, the California Scholarship Federation, the Outdoor Science Club, and the Ski and Snowboard Club.

Academically, Brayden stands out as the top-ranked student in his class with an impressive 4.57 GPA. He has consistently challenged himself with Stanford High School coursework, community college classes, and every Honors and AP course Bret Harte has to offer. Recently, Brayden was recognized as a National Merit Commended Student, placing among the top scorers in the entire state of California… Brayden’s dream schools include Stanford and Duke, where he plans to major in civil engineering and mathematics…”
