Congratulations to the Students of the Month for January, Carson Prescott and Ayla Jodie, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary luncheon today Thursday, January 15 in Murphys. The following information was shared about both students.

Carson Prescott: “Carson exemplifies leadership through quiet integrity and consistent action. He leads by example, earning the respect of his peers through his work ethic, reliability, and commitment rather than through attention or recognition.

A dedicated dual-sport athlete, Carson has competed in both football and track, balancing the demands of athletics with academics and leadership responsibilities. He is also a highly involved member of FFA and is currently serving his second term as FFA president, demonstrating the trust and confidence his peers place in him.

Carson’s commitment extends well beyond the classroom. He has actively volunteered in community service projects such as FFA blanket-making initiatives and the Ag Extravaganza. He has served as the student manager for the Sheep Co-op and has shown market goats, lambs, hogs, and rabbits. In addition, Carson has participated on the chapter welding team and has achieved success in speaking contests and leadership development events, including Impromptu Speaking and Job Interview. He works for Altaville Fire and loves serving the Calaveras County community.

Looking ahead, Carson plans to attend Columbia College to enroll in the Fire Science Program, with the goal of transferring to Butte College to pursue a degree as a paramedic. His academic goals reflect his desire to serve others and make a meaningful impact in his community.”

Ayla Jodie: “Ayla operates with a full plate of activities while balancing a slate of honors and advance placement classes. She is in the top 10% of her class with over a 4.0 GPA. At Bret Harte, she has been an active member of FCA, ACADEC, Interact, Art Club, Ski & Snowboard Club, and the Forestry Club. She is also an amazing artist!

Ayla has been a four-year participant of Cross Country and Track, and qualified to attend the Field Masters Championship for Pole Vault.

Within the community, Ayla has volunteered for vacation Bible school, the Angels-Murphys Rotary Shrimp Feed and Shoe Drive, and the Junior Bullfrog track meet. She is also musically inclined, she is also musically inclined, leading worship and singing at her local church.

Ayla is one of those all-around people that loves a ton of different things, like spending time backpacking with her family in the wilderness and going entire weeks eating freeze dried food and jumping in super cold lakes. She is also an avid skier and loves cross country skiing as well.

Ayla’s college choices include Willamette University and San Diego State University where she plans to major in Kinesiology in preparation for a career as a physical therapist.”
