At the Small School Districts' Association conference this past Tuesday, March 10 in Sacramento, Mr. Swanson and six Bret Harte seniors presented their "Assessing the State of Education in 2025" report, a 50+ page document created by AP Language & Composition students during the 2024–25 school year.
The project asked students to take a serious look at where education stands today, nationally and at Bret Harte, from the perspective of students themselves. During the presentation, students shared key ideas from the report with educators, board members, and administrators and answered questions about the project.
"The conversation was engaging and thoughtful, and the work helped contribute to discussions on campus that have led to new course offerings and other changes,” shared Mr. Swanson.
Student presenters, pictured left to right, included Jonathan Carter, Brayden Bowersox, Cheyenne Stephens, Paulina Vallejo, Jayden Stone Frerking, and Boek DePonte.
