Calaveras Cougars basketball team of Special Olympics of No CA

Our very own Levi Lucore and his teammates took gold at the Special Olympics of Northern California regional basketball tournament on Saturday, March 07 in Stockton. The Calaveras Cougars won all three of their games securing their title of tournament champions, along with Lucore making two baskets, on the home court of the University of the Pacific Tigers.

“Levi loves basketball!” shared Meegan Lucore. “He has been a Cougar for five years now. His skills improved so much after being included as a manager and player on Bret Harte’s frosh basketball team, he was bumped up to the #1 team this year.”

The basketball competition is comprised of teams of individuals with disabilities from Amador, Calaveras, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tuolumne counties, along with the city of Galt. The next tournament will be held in March 2027. Learn more about Special Olympics of Northern California at https://sonc.org.
