Congratulations to the final two Rotary Students of the Month for the class of 2026, Jonathan Carter and Nina Fichtner, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary luncheon today Thursday, May 21 in Murphys. The following information was shared about both students.
Jonathan Carter: “Jonathan is quite active as a member of Interact, Outdoor Club, Ski Club, Academic Decathlon, and Forestry club. He has represented the Bullfrogs well as a member of the tennis and soccer teams. He is also quite involved serving the community citing hours donated for shoe drive, food drive, church cleanup, each cleanup, Irish Days volunteer, trail creation, and forest cleanup. This servicing parallels his acquisition of becoming an Eagle Scout. He is an accomplished pianist of nine years, and his favorite piece is Chopin Ballade no. 1.
Jonathan plans to attend UC Davis where he will major in aerospace engineering. He plans someday to join NASA.”
Nina Fichtner: “Nina has represented Bret Harte in water polo, soccer, swimming, and Academic Decathlon. She has also been an active member for Interact, Outdoors Club, and Theater. Within the community she has given back to academics by volunteering at the Hazel Fisher Library.
A sneak preview of Nina’s long-term goals is her participation as an exchange program to both Spain & Costa Rico. This fits well with Nina’s path of attending UC Merced where she will major in Spanish. Following this, Nina plans to direct her career teaching English in Central America. The world can only be a better place for having people like Nina reaching between languages and cultures creating better understanding.”
