"Dear Bret Harte Community,

We’re just three weeks into the new school year, and I want to take a moment to once again welcome you back and thank you for your partnership as we kick off what promises to be a successful and enriching year.  The start of the school year has been full of energy, excitement, and important changes – all designed with one clear goal in mind: supporting our students’ academic success.

You may have heard your student mention the program Minga, our new digital hall pass and student engagement platform. Minga allows us to streamline transitions, monitor student movement more effectively, and reduce disruptions during class time. It also gives students access to school information and updates in one convenient place, keeping them connected and engaged.

Another change you may have heard about is our updated cell phone policy. While we understand that phones are a part of everyday life, we also know how distracting they can be during instructional time. Our updated policy is focused on helping students stay present and focused during class. Early feedback from both teachers and students has been encouraging, and we appreciate your support as we work together to promote a learning-focused environment.

We know that change can take some getting used to, and we’re proud of how our students have adapted so far. These efforts—along with the continued dedication of our staff and the involvement of our families—are all part of our commitment to creating a safe, focused, and respectful learning environment.
