FFA UPDATE: "On Wednesday, April 16th, 2025 we will be holding our last monthly FFA meeting of the year in the MPR! We will begin the evening honoring those FFA members who have attended a minimum of 5 FFA meetings this year and our state degree recipients as well as their parents at 6:00 pm with a tri-tip sandwich dinner. ONLY students who remained on good standings for the entirety of the year will be on the list for dinner. Then, at 7:00 pm we will begin with our formal FFA Meeting to discuss the remaining activities of the school year and recognize our 2025 State Degree members. Other events/reminders as they approach are listed below: • 4/28- CA State FFA Degree Ceremony at Modesto High School, if your student is receiving this award please read the letter that was sent out to you. Congratulations! • 4/29- MANDATORY parent and exhibitor fair meeting beginning at 6:00 pm in the Theater. Be sure to attend if your student is showing at the county fair with Bret Harte FFA. • 5/22- Annual FFA Banquet at Ironstone. Tickets will go on sale April 28th-April 30th and May 5th-May 7th at lunch for $20/ticket. There will be NO tickets sold at the door for the banquet. This year's Student Career Fair will be held Wednesday, April 16 in the Lower Gym and MPR beginning at 1:30 PM. This event will provide a on a valuable opportunity to expand students' awareness of diverse career paths. Students will attend with their Pond classes. Questions, see Ms. Godfrey.
CLASS OF 2025: This year's annual “On the Right Track” event, sponsored by the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Thursday, April 10 on Dorroh Field beginning at 9:00 AM. Seniors will get a taste of adult life through a series of tables on important topics to aid with their transition into adulthood. Learn more at https://www.calaveras.org/otrt.
FACILITY USE CLOSURE: The Bret Harte tennis courts, located at 387 Murphys Grade Road, will be closed for resurfacing beginning Friday, April 11 through Sunday, April 13 for resurfacing. SPRING BREAK: This is just a reminder that we have early release at 1:10 PM today, March 28th. We will not have school March 31st- April 4th due to Spring Break. Classes will resume as normally scheduled on Monday, April 7th. We wish all our students a safe and happy spring break!
FFA UPDATE: "We are approaching some important deadlines that we would like parents/guardians of exhibitors to be aware of. Fair entry forms are due to the fairground’s office by Saturday April 5th, 2025. We are asking students to communicate with us when their entries have been turned in. Some students still do not have their entries signed by the Advisor. Next week is Spring break, therefore we need to sign all entries by Friday March 28, 2025. Students need to have the following to complete their entries with the fairgrounds: 1. Completed and signed Fair Entry form. For Swine exhibitors- you also need the Prop 12 Breeder paper signed. For Goat & Sheep exhibitors- make sure that your scrapies tag number is listed on the entry form. 2. Completed and signed Release & Liability Waiver Form 3. Completed and signed First Aid Parent Permission Form 4. Copy of their Bill of Sale 5. Copy of their Ethics class Training certificate 6. Money to pay the entry fee(s). Advisors are starting to arrange their 2nd project visits in the next month; we still have students who have not scheduled their 1st visit with us. Please help us to get those visits arranged and help your exhibitor to get their entry forms turned in by the deadline. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. We will be having our final Mandatory Parent & Exhibitor Meeting on April 29th, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Theater. We will go over final details for fair preparations. PROM: Sonora High School's student leadership team is hosting a "Say Yes to the Dress" for students to buy prom dresses at very reasonable prices. Organizers have over 100 beautiful prom dresses and none priced higher than $20. This opportunity is being extended to all Tuolumne and Calaveras high school students. The event will take place on Friday, April 11 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in Sonora High's dance studio located on their campus. PROM: "Hey Upperclassmen! Prom is here!!! Prom will be on April 26th at Hatcher Winery from 8 pm to 11 pm. We are excited to invite all of you, and your UPPERCLASSMEN guests to our Gatsby night. Tickets will be for sale in Drag's room, room 37 at lunch during the following dates: Tickets will go on sale April 7th at $40. Tickets will remain $40 until April 18th. April 20th to the 24th, tickets will be $55. ATHLETIC UPDATE: As of 12:00 PM today, JV Baseball vs Ripon has been CANCELED. The varsity game will continue as scheduled at 1:00 PM on the junior varsity baseball field. \\ Baseball vs Ripon scheduled for Saturday, March 22 has been changed to a game time of 10:00 AM for junior varsity followed by varsity at 1:00 PM on the junior varsity baseball field due to field conditions. Parking is limited near the field, and is available in the horseshoe and student parking lots. Spectators will walk down the sidewalk of Murphys Grade Rd or enter the football stadium and follow the outside of the track. SIGN UP TO SAVE A LIFE! District nursing staff will be hosting this year’s Bret Harte blood drive tomorrow Thursday, March 20 from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room. With 21 registered, they are looking for 11 more individuals - staff, students or community members - to help them reach their goal of 32 donors! Call Nurse Logan and Nurse Bree at 209 736-8381 to schedule your appointment. The blood drive is open to staff, students 16-years of age and older, and community members. Donors must weigh more than 110 lbs. The donation process takes approximately one hour from start to finish. All donors will receive a free T-shirt and a chance to win a $50 Visa gift card. REMINDER: Today's annual 8th Grade Expo is scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM in the Bret Harte Theater. Attendees MUST have submitted permission slips prior to attending the event. After the welcome and introduction speeches, future Bullfrogs will take a campus tour. Parent/guardians are to arrive at 5:30 PM for a presentation in the Theater. Thereafter, all will converge in the Multipurpose Room to schedule their registration appointments for the following week and learn more about activities and clubs. Attendees are expected to attend the entirety of the event. Parent/guardians are required to provide their student’s transportation home when the event ends at approximately 6:30 PM.
